“One thing I know for sure is that moving away from industrially produced large scale food to something more personal is an infinitely gratifying journey.” Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall
Good ethically produced meat can’t be cheap. Don’t let anyone kid you that factory farmed meat and poultry is produced locally and imported in to our country out of a sense of social responsibility and in an effort to keep the cost of living down. The driving force behind intensive mass meat production and feedlots is simply bigger profits for some.
Nearly all the meat that you get in our supermarkets is ethically tainted, of untraceable origin and dubious quality and the only reason why they continue to stock this is because customers are happy so long as they can load it in their trolleys without flinching at the price. What we really should be flinching at is what the workers are paid, what the animals were fed and how they lived and died, what’s been added and how far it’s travelled.
Please don’t be one of those who encourage unethical farming by buying unhealthy, mass produced meat just because it's cheaper.
